Robots check in

Once confined to sci-fi movies or factory floors, robots are now knocking at our front doors—sometimes quite literally! And guess what? They’re not here to take over—they’re here to help. From vacuuming our floors to one day possibly folding our laundry, robots are becoming part of everyday life in ways we never imagined.

Today’s households already enjoy a taste of robotic convenience—think Roombas and robotic mops that quietly clean up after us while we chill. But that’s just the beginning. We’re entering an era where robots are being designed to do so much more—like helping in the kitchen, organizing clutter, guarding our homes, and even keeping us company. Thanks to amazing leaps in artificial intelligence, smart sensors, and better affordability, these futuristic helpers are no longer out of reach. Welcome to the world of Advanced Robotics—where robots are getting brains and brawn! They’re not just following commands anymore; they’re learning, adapting, and making decisions on the go.

Take Unitree Robotics’ Go2 Robot Dog, for instance. It’s agile, smart, and equipped with LiDAR to navigate complex spaces like a pro. Meanwhile, back home in India, companies like Addverb Technologies are joining the robotic race. Their four legged robot Trakr, developed with the Indian Army, shows how local innovation is making big strides in the field. These robots aren’t just confined to homes. They’re already transforming industries—from surgical robots in hospitals to autonomous bots zooming through warehouses, and even humanoid robots like Tesla’s Optimus, which might one day help with your daily chores (or at least do the dishes!).

The best part? As robots become more advanced and affordable, having one around the house might soon be as normal as owning a smartphone. Yes, there are ethical questions and societal shifts to navigate, but the momentum is unstoppable. So, whether it’s a robot vacuum or a futuristic robotic butler, one thing’s clear: the future of home living is looking smarter, easier, and a whole lot more exciting.

Beyond the screen

For over a decade, the smartphone has reigned supreme as our primary personal computing device. We navigate our lives through its rectangular screen, connecting, creating, and consuming information. However, a new contender is rapidly gaining momentum, promising a more seamless and immersive digital experience: smart glasses. While still in their early stages of mainstream adoption, the trajectory of their development suggests a future where these sleek wearables could gradually diminish, and perhaps even replace, our reliance on smartphones and even laptops.

Why are smart glasses so enticing? It’s the notion that we might finally look up from our screens. Imagine this: data drifting quietly in your line of vision, available at a glance or with a voice command. That’s the wonder of augmented reality (AR). Devices such as the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses already provide a glimpse—with in-built cameras and sound—but that’s only the start. The technology is developing rapidly, and the next set of glasses is going to get a lot more intelligent. Consider the Inair Glasses, for instance. Their vision is an AI Spatial Computer that displays a gigantic virtual screen before your eyes—ideal for working on the move. Want to multitask? You might be able to have several virtual screens hovering directly before your eyes, which makes laptops seem somewhat. outdated. And then there are Rokid Smart Glasses, upping the ante with sharp, high-definition virtual screens that even adapt to your very own eyesight, providing you with a cozy, customized experience for video watching, reading, or working. So how are these fashionable wearables going to compete with your phone? It’s all about convergence. These kinds of glasses, such as the Halliday AI concept, are emphasizing cool, thin forms that deliver live translations, texts, and notices directly into your line of sight. It’s not difficult to envision a time when you’re able to take directions, read your calendar, or respond to a call—without having to take out your phone.

And it just gets better. Smart glasses are also receiving serious improvements in audio and controls. Imagine placing a call, sending a message, or listening to your favorite tune—all with an easy voice command or gentle gesture. That’s hands-free living at its best. As the tech gets better and more useful apps pop up, this screen-free vision of the future is starting to feel very real.
